SLOUGH SCOUTS
3rd Upton Scouts 16-06-07
On Saturday 16th June, 3rd Upton Scouts led by Sue Took the Scout Leader, Tim Haggett the ADC Scouts and Damien from Network Scouts went to Trooping the Colour which is otherwise known as the Queens Birthday Parade. They left from Slough train station with scouts from other local districts early in the morning traveling to London. The young people then met up with other groups from all over the UK and some other Scouts from abroad at the Duke of York steps. They were escorted over the Mall to watch the parade in the youth enclosure. After a short wait the parade travelled down the Mall and into Horse Guard Parade, It was spectacular. In between the various military bands came the Royal Family, Camilla with Prince William, Prince Andrew with Princess Beatrice and Eugene, The Queen with Prince Phillip and on horseback Prince Charles with Princess Anne. The Scouts were able to see from where they were standing the Queen inspecting her troops. Afterwards they marched passed again without a sound on their way back to Buckingham Palace.
They all walked up to Buckingham Palace where the Scouts saw the Queen & the Royal family on the Balcony watching the Battle of Britain planes fly over - Hurricanes, Spitfires, Lancaster's and of course the Red Arrows.
A trip to Trafalgar Square, Big Ben & Piccadilly Circus was included in their jam-packed day. It was a very exciting and remember-able not too wet a time had by all.
