District Commissioners Report 2008
Well I can safely say that this last year has been one of the most challenging / explosive / exciting by far, We have had a very full year no matter what section you are apart of, you will have been busy and this is reflected in the sectional reports, that’s on top of the support we have provided to Headquarters to make the Centenary year one of the most memorable for the young people and us. I also can’t believe that the Jamboree has been and gone and we starting to look forward to the next one in Sweden in 2011.
Where did all that Time and effort go?
Well I do know the answer to that one its a very big smile on every face in scouting young and old.
You all did a tremendous job last year and I wish to thank every single one of you personally (ok maybe not personally as it would take to long but THANK YOU)
The young people
The mums & DadsThe FellowshipThe Sponsors
The HelpersThe District NetworkThe Councillors
The leadersThe CountyThe Local Businesses
The district Team Leaders and EXEC
And yes the list goes on and on so if I haven’t covered you somewhere in this take it as red (THANK YOU)
A special Thanks but unfortunately a Posthumous Thank you to a great County Chairman Michael Nightingale who provided me with lots of guidance on how to sneak things past old Hamish or should I word it “work closer with him to achieve more” he was a wonder with words Thanks Michael.
I suppose he’s got to get a mention at some point for his support this year the boss well you wouldn’t believe it but we do have a very supportive Boss he Pays bad and theirs no promotions in sight but at least he is fair, Thank you for your support especially with those tricky little issues that occur on occasion.
Its hard work having 2 Bosses but I’m not allowed to forget my Boss who’s at home looking after my little tribe but she does an absolute spiffing Job putting up with me and all the baggage that surrounds a DC’s job, Thank you Clare Dear Wife love of my life (anyone feeling sick yet)
Yep thought I forgot you both this year like I did last year nope with the amount of support and challenges we have worked through together this year its hard to forget you , Thank you Mr District Chair Ian Goldswain and also Mr Deputy DC Mark for all of your hard-work at both supporting me but supporting the other dozen hats you wear.
OK so you’ve all switched of got bored with the report and are using it for a fan or a pillow but before you all fall totally into a comatose state can I just highlight the Dawning of a new age for Slough.
We are 100 Years old this year
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SLOUGH
It started with 1st Slough
(And Tom can remember it like yesterday)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY
2nd Cippenham who are 50 Years old
(Yes Adrian is showing signs of Wear but is still going strong)
Happy Birthday
Colnbrook Scout Group
The first Group to be formed in Slough for 50 Years
Starting on June 4th 2008 we will have 17 young people and 6 leaders
The Future is so Exciting
Because I believe we have an excellent team of people across all aspects of Slough District and that they have the site to ensure the scout movement continues to grow and prosper. And the proof is what they have so successfully achieved last year and what they have set the foundations for this year and beyond.
Well done and Thank you
Bruce Clark

By Confucius
Man who keeps feet firmly on the ground have trouble putting on pants.
So let’s all be flexible this year and make it an exceptional celebration and no one can then be caught with their pants down Tallyho.
