District Chess Competition 2008

The district chess competition took place last Saturday (1st Nov) it was only supported by two packs which was a little disappointing but the five cubs who turned up all played hard and each gained some points at the end. The winnder was Rhys Williams from 1st Cippenham, who hopefully will go on to represent us at the County competition later in November.

County Cooking Competition

1st Cippenham also did a great job for Slough at the county cooking competition, an excerpt from Martin's e-mail included

7 other districts entered their best cub teams, each winning their way through to county from each of their respective districts. The standard was very high with leaders not touching any of the equipment or helping the cubs, just supervising in case they did something dangerous, which in a noisy room was near impossible any way. The y had to prepare cook and serve a two course meal and design a menu. Our boys were excellent, worked hard as a team and had great fun and were a credit to 1st cippenham and slough distirct.

it would be great to say we won but we didn't, but came extremly close. maidenhead district came 1st with 103 points , windsor sneaked 2nd spot on 100 points and we finished 3rd on an agonising 99 points. it couldn't have been closer. 3rd out of 8 is an amazing result and we are very proud of our team.

So well done to 1st Cippenham and thanks for representing us so well (had we won we would have to host it next year :-))

Christmas Party...

The cubs had a Chirstmas party on 10th December at 3rd Upton HQ. About 30 cubs attended from across the district and a great time was had by all. They took part in lots of party games including musical chairs, balloon relays, the chocolate game and muscial bumps and statues. All the cubs brought their own tea so everyone enjoyed their food too. That was obviously the last event of 2006 and we are looking forward to the centenary celebrations in 2007.
