AGM 2007 Report Back
I took on the role of ADC (scouts) in October 2006, having relocated from Cardiff where I held the same position in East and South District.
At first it had been quite difficult the establish contact with the troops as they had not had an ADC for sometime. Undeterred by this we carried on.
In March we had the first competion since I took over. This was a five aside football tournament. We held it at the Power league in Slough and it was attended by four of the troops with nine teams entered in total. It was a very dose competition, we played a league style competition and in true premiership style it all came down to the last match which was won by the 3rd Upton. My congratulations got to them for the excellent football they played. I have to thank three people in particular, Jessica Hardwick for putting together the fixtures and keeping the scores, Andrew Hatheral and Adrian Hodges for being referees with their help we would not have been able to pull off a fantastic day. Thanks to all the troops that were represented.
Looking to the future, we had a troop leaders meeting where we discussed what support the troops would like form the district and what type of events we would like to run these included a Swimming Gala, camping competition, day trips, First Aid Competition and many more.
The Scout section in this district continues to grow and that is only because of the dedicated leaders that turn up week in week out to ensure that their young people have a great time whilst they are with us. So thank you for all the time and effort you put into the troops.
Finally I would like to thank my fellow district officers for all the help and support they have given me in my first year and look forward to working with them in the future.
